hela Sverige RISE Research Institutes of Sweden is Sweden's research institute and innovation partner. We contribute, through international collaborations with companies, academia, and the public sector, to a competitive business community, and a sustainable society. Our 2 300 employees run and support all types of innovation processes. RISE is an independent state-owned research institute offering unique expertise and 100 test and demonstration environments for future-proof technologies, products, and services.
www.ri.se The RISE division ICT are now looking for senior researchers in Systems-of-systems
To strengthen the research within complex, software-intensive systems-of-systems, the SICS unit within RISE ICT is currently looking for experienced researchers to join the Software and Systems Engineering Laboratory (SSE) in Kista, Lund or Västerås offices.
Background
Systems-of-systems (SoS) can be informally defined as a number of independent systems that collaborate to achieve something they cannot achieve on their own. The participating systems can be of any type, including mechatronic and cyber-physical ones, whereas the collaboration is primarily achieved through information and communication technologies (ICT). SoS is rapidly increasing in importance, with applications in areas such as transportation; factory automation (e.g., Industry 4.0); mining and construction; Internet of Things; eHealth; defense and crisis management. RISE is, therefore, expanding its research in the SoS area and is currently looking for additional researchers to strengthen this effort.
The SSE lab is focusing its research on solutions for system development in a digital society that becomes increasingly connected and automated. Special attention is given to large-scale cyber-physical systems, where traditional embedded systems are evolving into systems-of-systems through connectivity, using technologies from the Internet of Things. The business landscape is also changing, with companies cooperating in software ecosystems across organizational borders and traditional domains. Our research is conducted using a range of research methods, including empirical and evidence-based approaches as well as concrete prototyping of solutions in hardware and software. The lab currently consists of 17 persons, including 8 Ph.D., and the members together have close to 100 years of first-hand industrial experience.
Qualifications
We are primarily looking for experienced researchers, either with a Ph.D. degree in relevant subjects (such as computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering, or similar) or with an MSc degree combined with the solid experience of industrial research and development of software and complex systems. A strong academic track record is highly valued, as is the experience of industrial research activities and project management. RISE strives for a diversified workforce, and therefore we especially encourage female applicants and applicants with an international background. All projects require co-operation; hence it is essential to have an excellent social ability.
The following non-exhaustive list shows areas of expertise which are of particular interest for the positions:
* Systems-of-systems (SoS)
* Cyber-physical systems (CPS), with a focus on systems engineering
* Architecture for software-intensive systems
* Enterprise architecture
* Resilience, safety, robustness, and dependability
* Software ecosystems and cross-organizational development
As a senior researcher at the SSE lab, you are expected to independently carry out projects in close cooperation with industrial and academic partners, from the initial contacts to successful delivery. You are also likely to create new co-operations with companies and universities and attract research funding from public agencies. Based on experiences and data collected from projects, you are supposed to be able to generalize these into explanatory models, and present results to the scientific and industrial communities.
Location
The positions are placed either in the main office of RISE SICS in Kista or in our offices in Lund or Västerås. Both positions may involve participation in projects at other places in Sweden or internationally, in which case travel is needed.
Position and start date
We offer a full time, permanent employment. Part-time positions can be discussed, in particular, if combined with a position at a university. Applications will be evaluated continuously, and the start date is to be agreed with the successful applicants.
Contact and application
If this sounds interesting and you want to know more, feel free to contact Stefan Cedergren, 070-7914440. The deadline for applications is 21st of October 2018. Interviews may take place during the application period.
We kindly ask external recruitment companies and salespeople not to contact us as we are governed by the Swedish Procurement Act.
