The SKF Predictive Simulation & Engineering (PS&E) has global responsibility for SKF engineering software product portfolio and works in close co-operation with the international product divisions, the technical & research development centers, application engineers and SKF-customers on calculation models of bearings and bearing applications. The software products to simulate these applications are based on state of the art in-house developed technology as well as on advanced finite element programs.

The development team in Sweden is focused mainly on the research and development of the most advanced simulation software in our portfolio. It embeds the most advanced simulation technologies available and is therefore the most recognised and the state-of-the-art bearings simulation software available inside and outside SKF. For this continuous development and research needs to be performed in the areas of multi-body dynamics technology, multi-body reduction techniques, contact mechanics, tribology, fatigue, computational fluid dynamics, particle methods, parallel computing, co-simulation.

Job Responsibilities
• To develop, test and maintain SKF engineering software within the PS&E portfolio.
• Responsible for the research, development, implementation and verification of new technology
• To engage through operations with application engineering to embed application criteria in the result evaluation.
• To take the user requirements and translate them into detailed software enhancements
• To engage with stakeholders that provide input data to the engineering software programs.
• Provide a guiding voice in the discussions regarding future advancements in the software
• To be available on demand in complex customer projects as technical lead in the specific field of competence related to modelling & simulation
• To be pro-active and innovative in problem solving
• To be capable of active listening
• To provide and to seek constructive feedback
• To follow the EHS (environment, health and safety) regulations and guidelines
• To follow the ISO 9001, SKF internal quality systems and other applicable standards

Requirements:
• PhD in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, tribology, physics or mathematics.
• A few years of post-doc experience is a plus
• At least 3 years' experience in technical, industry or similar environment
• Proven record of software development (whether professional, personal or open source)
• Knowledge of modern object-oriented programming (C++) which is our primary software development language
• Experience in working in projects and able to plan own work
• Experience working in Agile and Scrum development
• Possess an explorative mind set with an innovative scientific approach.
• Self-motivated, pro-active team member, customer-focused and result-oriented.
• Strong focus on reaching targets and delivering results.
• Excellent communication skills and a good command of the English language.

The following are not mandatory but will give the eligible candidate a distinct advantage:
• Finite Element Simulation and scientific computing techniques
• Knowledge about software as a service and cloud infrastructure
• Experience working with commercial software like Ansys, Abaqus, Adams
