We are seeking a highly motivated, talented and scientifically curious Bioscientist to join our team as a Senior Research Scientist - the position will be based at our vibrating R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden. Discovery Sciences is a multi-faceted department which drives early drug discovery across AstraZeneca's global Research and Development portfolio. Mechanistic Biology & Profiling (part of Discovery Sciences) is a global, multidisciplinary department responsible for compound profiling and mechanism of action studies in support of the BioPharmaceuticals Therapy Areas including Cardiovascular, Renal & Metabolism (CVRM), Respiratory, Inflammation & Autoimmunity (RIA) and Oncology.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

If successful, you will drive your science within a high-performing team generating in vitro pharmacology data in support of Medicinal Chemistry and the drug design cycle. You will be an experienced lab-based scientist, able to interact across a broad range of therapeutic projects and global initiatives within Discovery Sciences and externally. You will also represent the group on Project Teams and drive scientific and technical innovation, including the identification and development of innovative processes and workflows to deliver high quality and precise data efficiently.

Essential Requirements

* Ph.D in Pharmacology, Biochemistry or a related discipline or a BSc/MSc degree with significant relevant experience, preferably in the Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industry
* Formal training and proven expertise delivering XC50 and Ki data to support in Drug Discovery Projects
* Experience developing workflows and automated processes to deliver both Biochemical and Cellular data, including advance cell systems and Imaging Platforms
* Proven Expertise in data analysis and an ability to communicate data interpretation clearly
* Excellent problem-solving skills
* Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners to achieve objectives with a flexible and enthusiastic approach to your work.
* Proven reputation gained through external presentations and publications.
