SENIOR MECHANICAL DRIVE SYSTEM ENGINEER for our location in Västerås, Sweden

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The purpose of the role is to analyse, develop, design and demonstrate solutions that solve the requirements on a drive system, mainly motor and gearbox, within all applications from low power to high power propulsion, from trams to very high speed trains. The role involves performing difficult engineering assignments requiring initiative, resourcefulness and design experience and provide advice and guidance to co-engineers, production and suppliers.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:
• Be in charge with the mechanical design of the drive system in bid and order projects taking all requirements into consideration (e.g. customer, production and project requirements);
• Give guidance and support to internal or external design engineers for motor and gearbox;
• Design, manage and validate design using computer-based engineering tools;
• Taking part of, or leading interface discussions with other engineers within drives, system and bogie and vehicle design, designing a complete integrated drive system;
• Coordinate with project management for cost and time schedule;
• Initiate, plan and perform product development tasks or projects to improve the product performance/cost/reliability;
• Initiate and take part or drive technical root cause analyses.
Qualifications
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE MUST HAVE:
• Education: MSc in Mechanical Engineering;
• At least 5 years of experience on a similar role;
• Knowledge of 3D CAD Catia v5 and CFD tool Star CCM +;
• Knowledge of electrical motor and gearbox in general;
• Knowledge in other engineering disciplines like material, acoustic, vibrations, heat, design and strength calculations would be desirable;
• Fluency in English and Swedish would be desirable;
• The candidate must be driven, autonomous and willing to share knowledge.
