The Role
As Senior Legal Counsel you will, together with a team of other European lawyers, focus primarily on the Order-to-Cash business and to some extent on the other businesses, and related matters. The Order-to-Cash offering consists of factoring, invoice administration, invoice purchase, recurring invoice products and various other solutions.
Your main responsibilities would be to:
• Provide support and advice on a wide range of corporate and commercial legal matters related to the business.
• Assessing new business models/solutions, assessing end-user solutions and interfaces.
• Provide support and advice on sometimes highly complex matters related to for instance consumer credits, consumer law, payment services and factoring, both on national and cross-border level.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements and set-ups and other legal documents.
• Contribute to constant improvement of the Legal Function as a whole, and its ways of working, to ensure a highly effective legal function that provides due value to all stakeholders and where the co-workers thrive.
• Develop checklists, policies, processes, conduct trainings etc to contribute to due legal awareness and operational efficiency.
As Senior Legal Counsel you will cooperate closely with lawyers throughout the entire company and jointly run initiatives are encouraged. The daily work will also entail close contacts with other functions such as Product, Sales, Marketing, Risk, Compliance, Finance and Operations. You will report to Head of Legal, Order-to-Cash, who is located in Germany. During an interim period, you will report to our Interim Head of Legal, Order-to-Cash, who is located in Finland.
You will work closely not only with the other Order-to-Cash lawyers but also with the entire AFS Legal Function and not least with the other Swedish lawyers who are based in Varberg and who primarily work with the 3rd Party Debt Collection & Dept Purchase offering.
The role will primarily be focused on the Swedish market, but the responsibility may be extended to the entire Nordic region, or parts of it.
Who You Are
To be able to manage the role we believe that you have approximately seven to fifteen years of solid and relevant work experience. You have substantial experience within industries similar to AFS and you are highly experienced and knowledgeable within financial services and Order-to-Cash related matters in international environments. In terms of areas of law, we believe you are experienced in consumer credits, consumer law, payment services legislation, commercial contract law, insolvency law, credit law, property law, finance law, financial regulatory matters and preferably also data privacy law.
You are able to translate complicated legal matters into commercially relevant advice, able to prioritize given the ever varying needs of the stakeholders, comfortable with change and uncertainty, service minded and you act with a high degree of integrity.
You have a Swedish law degree. You are fluent in Swedish and English, verbally and in writing.

AFS 's Legal Function consists of approximately 30 lawyers, based throughout Europe and headed by a General Counsel based in Germany and a management team with members based in Germany, Norway, Sweden and Finland.

Your work place can be situated in Stockholm, Uppsala, Varberg, Helsinki or Oslo. There are possibilities to work from home up to four days a week (to be agreed upon with the team and your manager).
