The School of Health Sciences is seeking a senior lecturer in Sport Science - with a specialisation in Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy for a permanent post.



Örebro University has a long tradition of education and research in the field of Sport Science. Today we offer following study programmes: Sports Science and Coaching Programme and Management in Sport and Recreation (bachelor level), Teacher Education Programme, and Sport Physiology and Medicine Programme (postgraduate level). Currently, eighteen students are enrolled in the PhD-program in Sport Science. Research is conducted within the research environment RISPA (Research in Sport and Physical Activity) with a range of externally funded research projects.

Duties and responsibilities
Duties include teaching, supervision and examination in courses in physical education and sport pedagogy including teaching in movement activities, research methods and degree projects.

The teaching involved is primarily within the Teacher Education Programme but there may also be some teaching in other programs. Besides teaching the position includes course development, planning and evaluation, administration, participation in research, continuing professional development and third-stream activities. The position holder is also expected to contribute to the development of the PhD-program and the research environment at Örebro University.

Eligibility
Eligible for the appointment as senior lecturer are applicants who have demonstrated educational expertise and who have been awarded a doctoral degree within the subject area in question or possess corresponding research skills or some other professional expertise that is of significance in view of the subject matter for the position and the duties that the position will involve. For any teaching staff appointments at Örebro University, applicants are expected to have completed courses on teaching and learning in higher education corresponding to ten weeks. If applicable, assessments will be made of corresponding knowledge obtained in any other way.

Physical Education Teacher Education is required for the position.

Assessment criteria
In assessing whether an applicant is qualified for the appointment as senior lecturer, the extent to which his or her skills and expertise correspond to the eligibility requirements will be evaluated. In the appointment process, equal attention will be paid to the assessment of educational expertise as to the assessment of other qualifications required to meet the eligibility requirements. The applicant's research expertise shall be demonstrated through independent research contributions. The educational expertise and qualifications shall be well-documented and accounted for in a teaching portfolio.

In assessing the applicants' educational expertise, attention will be paid to their experience in terms of planning, carrying out and evaluating teaching, supervision and examination. A high degree of involvement in the operations onsite and a preparedness to take responsibility are considered to be of great importance.

Competence in the area of teacher education towards physical education is of great importance. Both research and developmental work are providing a useful qualification.The duties require communicative skills, both in writing and in speech, in Swedish and English. We welcome personal skills and abilities such as an ability to cooperate, power of initiative, as well as an interest in course development and educational development work.
