Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy

The unit of Occupational Therapy (https://www.gu.se/en/neuroscience-physiology) has a creative research environment and broad collaboration with inter-professional research groups nationally and internationally. The research focuses on the relation of everyday activities to health throughout different age range, from children to elderly persons. Research groups at the unit are TIDAS research group focusing on methods to early identify, treat and support people to maintain their work capacity and decrease the need for sick leave. ProDo research group focusing on the process of doing among children, adolescents and adults with disabilities due to neurological problems. The unit also works closely with the research group FRESH, which focuses on health in everyday life among older persons. At the unit and in the research groups, we have doctoral students, junior and senior researchers with a broad expertise that includes knowledge of medicine-, health-, social- and occupational science, as well as the ability to conduct qualitative research, RCTs, epidemiological studies and instrument development.

Subject area description
Occupational Therapy is based on occupational science, which encompasses the knowledge and study of human occupation, and the ability to use time and the environment in physical, social and cultural contexts. Furthermore, Occupational Therapy entails the knowledge of occupational engagement and the individuals ' volition and ability to take control of everyday life activities. In addition, the subject includes knowledge of habits, lifestyles, and the importance of the environment for occupation. Based on the complex meaning of people 's occupations in everyday life, Occupational Therapy relates to the humanities, to medical, natural, and social sciences and technological areas of knowledge.
Duties
The position includes working in an educational environment with a strong focus on student-centered learning. The main tasks are theoretical and practical teaching Occupational Therapy at the Undergraduate Programme in Occupational Therapy, but also at the advanced and PhD levels. The position entails independent course responsibility, course planning, examinations, and administrative tasks, as well as participating in the development of the subject Occupational Therapy. Teaching and lectures will be held in Swedish as well as in English. The position includes conducting research in the main subject area of Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science, and the application for external research funding. Supervision of PhD students may also be part of the position.
Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for employing teaching staff are set out in Chapter 4 Section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and in the Appointment Procedure for Teaching Posts at the University of Gothenburg.
The applicant should have a completed PhD and demonstrated teaching and scientific skills. Further requirements are to be a registered occupational therapist in Sweden and the ability to teach in Swedish or English.
