About our opportunity
We work with the latest generation of broadband wireless technology 5G. Our unit is responsible to systemize, design, implement and integrate software features to control the air interface. We are recruiting a section manager for the Base Band SW development group in Kista - section "Development 3B". The department is responsible for the baseband SW development primarily within the gNB. This includes developing features and functionality in the areas MBB (Mobile Broadband) for 5G such as Scheduling and QoS features, carrier aggregation, massive MIMO, link adaptation, and much more. High level of test automation, early feature interaction and IODT are important factors to our success.
We are looking for a Product Development Leader to take a role as section manager for section Development 3B. In this role you will exercise Ericsson technology leadership and make sure we have the right scope, quality, time, and cost for product development. You will teach, coach, challenge and develop individuals, teams, and organizations. You will foster a creative and learning culture. As a manager, a large part of your work will be spent in tight co-operation with colleagues in your team, but also with other units, located in Sweden (Kista and Lund), Canada (Ottawa) and China (Beijing). This requires a keen interest in people, ability to empower teams and strong collaboration skills. We also expect you to have the gift and courage of simplifying complex structures, to develop competence and innovation. You must have a solid understanding of agile and lean R&D development.
You will, as a section manager, report to the head of PEU Performance PEG 3 sector manager and be a member of the PEG 3 leadership team. The section has two cross-functional teams (XFT), including tester engaged in feature verification, test automation and feature interaction testing (eFIT) for the 5G NR Baseband product. The unit is based in Kista.
The main challenge is to keep the focus on our current business and at the same time move into new technically challenging areas.

At least 5 years of experience in being a team leader or manager within Ericsson R&D
Interest and good understanding of the concepts of Lean and Agile ways of working

Good communication, coaching, and mentoring skills
Ability to work across organizational boundaries, negotiation skills
Interest in working with change management
Large degree of flexibility and willingness to manage different tasks
Experience of working in at least two of areas: SW and test development, test automation, early feature interaction, IODT
Experience with real-time embedded/DSP programming
Experience in working with radio baseband or radio protocols is advantage
Good English language skills in both writing and conversation
