Respiratory is one of AstraZeneca's main therapy areas. Our aim is to transform asthma and COPD treatment through inhaled combinations at the core of care, biologics for the unmet needs of specific patient populations, and scientific advancements in disease modification.

From a research perspective we work to understand, treat, modify and ultimately cure respiratory disease with an emphasis on four diseases with significant unmet medical need; asthma, COPD, Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) and Chronic Cough.

To communicate our advances in these strategic research areas, we are recruiting a Science Engagement Manager. Are you ready to join us?



Main Duties and Responsibilities

You will be responsible for developing and providing hands-on communications support, content and material for internal and external engagements. This will require you collaborate with colleagues and partners on all levels and functions. You will work closely with the Head of IMED RIA, the Director of Strategic Planning and Operations as well as Corporate Affairs.

* Promote IMED RIA achievements and staff internally and externally through compelling content and creative use of available communication channels.
* Stay up to date on key achievements and scientific news related to IMED RIA
* Responsible for input and content for monthly and annual reports, internal town hall meetings, major congresses and interactions with external experts.
* Drives and facilitates internal sharing of scientific communication, ensuring engagement amongst staff as well as stakeholders
* Supports Corporate Affairs with internal, as well as external communication



Minimum Requirements

Ideally, you have a scientific background or a deep understanding of scientific communication. You are a well-versed communicator who can identify relevant angles and convert them into compelling stories and presentations using a variety of communication tools. As a person, you are curious, engaged and collaborative, and find as much happiness in mentoring others to phenomenal results as you do in excelling personally. Furthermore, we expect you to apply a broad perspective and actively engage with others to develop creative solutions.

* Scientific degree within relevant field, alternatively solid experience from working with scientific communication
* Several years' experience from a scientific setting
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
* Shown ability to communicate science in an engaging and inspiring manner, using both traditional as novel tools
* Knowledge of the pharmaceutical drug discovery and development process
* Proven strong influencing, networking and team working skills
* A proven track record of delivery focus, including meeting time lines and budget restrictions



Desirable Requirements

* Experience in communications and business reporting
* Previous work experience from Drug Discovery research
* Experience of Respiratory research
