Engine Assembly in China - Full scale Scania production setup from zero
Scania has taken the strategic decision to set-up a 3rd industrial hub in China - a project to develop and implement full scale assembly operations have been initiated within Scania Production & Logistics. One part of this project is the establishment of an Engine Assembly plant. We are now looking for Engineers to join the project team to put industrial process and organization in place!
In the project, you will be a part of an exciting journey to create a full scale production plant in China. Starting from zero, the project team is responsible to design, build and launch production in a completely new factory. The new Engine Assembly plant will include processes such as Assembly line, Engine test facilities and a paint shop.
There will be several roles and opportunities with the need of skills and competences from different areas. Please specify in your application what position you are interested in.
Automation and technical project support, includes several activities such as:
• Define requirements on the assembly, test and paint operations to meet product requirements
• Act as the main interface towards R&D and other Scania Engine Assembly plants in technical issues
• Plan and perform evaluation of production equipment in different phases of the project; from technical offers to design and ultimately the manufactured production equipment to assure that it fulfills the technical demands
• Perform P-FMEA analysis for automatic operations and define needed quality assurance methods
• Support Project Managers in technical issues and assure that Scania technical regulations for production equipment is fulfilled
Design of assembly operations, includes several activities such as:
• Define the assembly line balance to meet capacity requirements
• Design the manual assembly stations and define needed tools and assembly equipment
• Perform time setting studies
• Perform P-FMEA analysis for manual operations and define needed quality assurance methods
• Perform ergonomic evaluations
Procurement of production equipment, includes several activities such as:
• Manage procurement of production equipment from pre-study and requirement setting through procurement all the way to installation and implementation.
• Act as the main interface towards involved equipment suppliers
• Responsible for time plan, budget and result of the investment projects

Since the corporate & project language is English and you will have International contacts, it is required that you can confidently express yourself in English, both orally and in writing. Meritorious is a university degree in engineering or similar and at least a couple of years' of work experience, preferably as process engineer or similar.
Your location
The China project team is based in Södertälje. However, flexible work location may be applied to reflect competences needed and project deliveries. Business trips abroad and to China occur. For some roles longer location in China is possible or needed.
