www.ri.se We are looking for someone with a passion for technology and research and an expertise in optical communication technology. At RISE, you will be working on developing and analysing optical fiber communication systems to increase system capabilities, and to improve system flexibility and controllability. The work is carried out partly in research projects together with academic partners and partly in development projects where research results are applied together with industrial partners.
Work description
Your main tasks will be in research and development projects to develop new technologies for optical fiber transmission systems. For example, you will work on new ways to modulate optical signals, new ways of processing digital signals, and on analysing how new component technologies affect system performance. Much of the work is done by computer simulations, the bulk of which is based on commercially available software that we use. Part of the work is done in experiments in our lab in Kista.
You will work in academic research projects, in collaboration with Swedish and foreign universities. You will sometimes need to travel to our partners to conduct experiments. Your research will lead to publications in scientific journals and conferences.
You will work in industrial research and development projects, where you will apply research results and help our industrial partners integrate them into their products. You should be responsive, creative and adapt to their needs.
Who you are
We believe that you have a PhD in electronics and optical communication technology. You enjoy applying your knowledge to address the needs of users and customers.
You can independently conduct projects in the field and have experience from the industry. You are used to writing project applications to public financiers such as Vinnova or EU H2020. You are well-acquainted with English in speech and are willing to learn Swedish if you do not know it yet.
The tasks generally set high demands on initiative, independence and cooperation. You like to set clear goals and work until you reach them. You can collaborate both within the company and with external players.

Location & other information
The position is full time and located in Kista, Sweden. The employment is permanent with start as soon as possible. A probationary work period may apply.
