Do you want to contribute to improving human health?
The multisensory neuroimaging lab at Karolinska Institutet studies the cortical networks that allow humans to engage with their chemosensory environment.

One focus area hereby is to understand how cortical integration of human smell and taste perception during ingestion of food contributes to the experience of pleasure or disgust in healthy and disturbed eating.

Your mission
The successful candidate will develop and oversee a research program that advances our knowledge of the role of sensory evaluation of flavors for the regulation of food intake. Specifically, this requires integration of research on cortical network dynamics of smell and taste integration during food consumption with methods from perceptual psychophysics and affective neuroscience. The role requires regular initiation and supervision of research studies, publication of scientific articles in chemosensory neuroscience of food intake, and applying for grants to support and expand this line of research.

Your profile
A person is eligible to be appointed Senior Researcher if he or she has been awarded a Degree of Doctor or has achieved the corresponding scientific competence, as well as documented research after publicly defending his or her doctoral thesis corresponding to qualification as Assistant professor.

A successful candidate for this position will have published significant scientific articles relating to neuroimaging of smell and taste in the context of food consumption as first- and corresponding author. You should have broad experience in functional MRI methods, including multivariate or network analyses, as well as significant experience in human olfactometry and gustometry. Knowledge of one or several programming languages related to image and statistical processing (e. g. Python, Matlab, R), training in affective neuroscience, and experience in conducting neuroimaging research with psychiatric populations are further merits. On a personal level, you should be team-oriented, and have a good knowledge of both English and Swedish that allows for seamless communication with group members and research participants. We are looking for a person that shows flexibility, initiative and a documented ability to work independently.

Experience in teaching and research supervision at both undergraduate level and advanced level is required.
