In both of these areas, we focus on fundamental knowledge of the living cell - what it consists of, how it works, how its function is directed by the genetic material, and how it interacts with various kinds of micro-organisms. Using this knowledge, we try to elucidate the causes of diseases, and find new ways to diagnose and treat them.
The Institute is composed of the following four departments:

At present, the institute has about 360 employees and approximately 440 million SEK in total assets
Job assignments
We are looking for a researcher with experience from work with experimental models in mice and vaccine development programs. We have developed a universal influenza virus vaccine candidate that we now intend to evaluate for its protective ability in the mouse model. The work entails infecting the mice and assessing the protective effect of prior vaccination using a number of parameters, including advanced flow cytometry, basic immunological methods and work with live virus. A particular focus is on the specific lung resident memory T cells that mediate protection and how these cells exert a protective function. To this end understanding gene expression patterns using single-cell RNAseq. analysis is an important feature. The position requires independent planning of experiments and the ability to execute the experiments.
Qualifications
We seek a PhD with experience from a first post-doc position within the field of vaccine development and immune regulation. Documented knowledge and practical experience with work with mice, breeding of mice, live virus and advanced flow cytometry is required .
Employment
The employment is limited (temporary) for 3 months and full-time with placement at the Institute of Biomedicine. First day of employment as agreed.
