hela Sverige The Institute of Biomedicine is involved in both research and education. In both of these areas, we focus on fundamental knowledge of the living cell - what it consists of, how it works, how its function is directed by the genetic material, and how it interacts with various kinds of microorganisms. Using this knowledge, we try to elucidate the causes of diseases, and find new ways to diagnose and treat them. The Institute is composed of the following five departments: . The Department of Infectious Diseases . The Department of Microbiology and Immunology . The Department of Pathology and Genetics . The Department of Clinical Chemistry and Transfusion Medicine . The Department of Medical Biochemistry and Cell Biology At present, the institute has about 350 employees and approximately 290 million SEK in total assets.
Our research group studies the development of the infants immune system, aiming to understand the factors underlying development of immunoregulatory diseases such as allergy and inflammatory bowel disease. We are now in need of a researcher with expertise in flow cytometry and in vitro methods of immune regulation as well as multivariate analysis to analyze immune development in human infants and Children Job assignments: Perform flow cytometric analyses and analyze data using multivariate analysis by principal component analysis and O-PLS. Writing reports and scientific papers. Planning and overseeing sampling and analysis of infant and child cohorts, including collaboration with clinicicans, other reserachers in the project, and staff at routine clinical laboratories.
A PhD in the field of immunology with focus on allergy/immune regulation and continuing research at the post-doctoral level in the area. Extensive experience from flow cytometric analysis and multivariate data analysis is required, as well as experience from running clinical studies involving several research groups and laboratories. Experience in work with neonatal blood samples or cord blood is a merit. We expect the candidate to be skilful, organized and flexible with high skills in cooperation with staff and colleagues. Capacity to work independently and in a structured way is of importance. An achieved doctoral degree and post-doctoral research in a relevant area according to the specific position stated here is required. As the work involves organization of clinical studies, including handling of samples and large data sets, as well as cooperation with several research groups and laboratories, practical experience in clinical research is required.
