For our research and development team at Transformers we are looking for an R&D Engineer focused on transformer cores and core steel. You will join our team in supporting our factories worldwide to optimize transformer cores in terms of quality, performance, and sustainability. Your focus will be on developing, updating, and validating Hitachi Energy design and calculation methods.
Additionally, you will work with our global team on improving Hitachi Energy's knowledge and experience on core and core steel topics. This can, for example, involve performing experimental or statistical studies either internally or in collaboration with manufacturers of core steel.
Your responsibilities
Developing new calculation methods and technical standards for transformer core design. Ensure that technical documentation on transformer core topics is kept up to date and validated.
Plan and execute testing of cores and core steel in both lab scale and on production transformers. For some of these tests, you will take a hands-on role in carrying them out, while others will be performed at other locations, under your guidance.
Collaborate with suppliers and customers to develop the transformer cores of the future.
Support other departments globally on core-related topics.
Actively participate in R&D projects and contribute to building up Hitachi Energy's experience and know-how in core technology and magnetics.
Develop your own experience, expertise, and professional network in the field.
Your background
You have a master's degree or higher in science or engineering (preferably physics or electrical engineering).
Experience or knowledge in experimental methods, statistics, electromagnetism, and basic programming (preferably using Matlab or Python).
Experience in designing and conducting experiments is considered meritorious.
You have an interest and an ability to develop into an expert in core-related topics such as magnetism, metallurgy, manufacturing processes, quality control, etc.
You communicate well both face-to-face and using video-conferencing tools and can explain concepts within your field to non-experts.
You communicate well in both written and spoken English. It is also beneficial if you speak Swedish, but it is not required.
