The HVDC technology has been on the market for over 60 years and is used to transmit power over long distances and integrate renewables into the grid with minimal losses, using overhead lines, underground and submarine cable systems.
We are seeking several new R&D Engineers in Digital Electronics hardware design. In this role you will help develop our electronics' systems that Control & Protect our High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) power stations. The position is based in Ludvika or Västerås, Sweden. Up to 49% remote working, depending on task.

Your responsibilities
You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of electrical products & components comprising the brain of the HVDC system.
The work requires a deep understanding of digital electronics and embedded systems both theoretical as well as practical tasks. Requirement management, development of design specifications and documentation are also part of the work tasks.
You will have the responsibility to create robust designs within the cost and time limits and with a product lifecycle management perspective.
We work in a modern environment where both rapid prototyping and productification takes place. We have tools and labs for the complete electronic hardware development cycle, from early prototype testing to final system verification. You will have the responsibility of your design in all these steps.

Your background
You have a wide knowledge within the area from a university education, preferably in Electrical & Electronics engineering and/or embedded systems fields, Master's or higher degree is a merit.
You are experienced and comfortable regarding development of digital electronics hardware and long experience with industry standard schematic capture and PCB layout tools, Altium Designer is preferred.
You have experience on processor architectures, signal/power integrity, simulations and measurement techniques. Experience on thermal management, power and timing budget calculations; EMI, EMC, ESD, grounding and low noise design on board level.
Proficiency in board bring-up and debugging skills; Experience with lab equipment and test setups for signal measurements; Experience on product/system verification and environmental testing.
Knowledge of electronic hardware development life cycle and obsolescence management and preferably experience on working with cross-functional hardware, software, and system architecture teams.
Considered meriting: experience with 12+ layer and HDI PCBs, FPGA coding (Verilog/VHDL), the ability to write test software for hardware verification, experience with PLM tools and experience from reliability analysis such as MTBF, FMEA and FTA.
