We are recruiting a Programme Manager to lead the Foundation's work on Multilateralism. Help us advance dialogue and policy for sustainable development and peace in Dag Hammarskjöld's memory.
Description
The Foundation's core programmatic activities address four interrelated and mutually reinforcing thematic areas, global governance, peacebuilding and sustaining peace, human rights, and climate change, and three strategic priorities, leadership, resources, and inclusivity. Programmatic work is organised within five projects, each with its own project team.
The Strengthening Multilateralism project contributes to greater knowledge of the UN and its role in advancing the protection and governance of global public goods within the multilateral system. This project's activities include convening and facilitating seminars, workshops and policy dialogues, conducting consultations and analysis, supporting the delivery of trainings, and generating publications. The Programme Manager is expected to provide leadership in advancing these activities and to support other project teams, as needed.
The vision of the Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation is a peaceful, just and inclusive world where the fundamental values of the UN are universally applied. Its employees should share its vision and ideals and understand what it means to work in and represent Hammarskjöld's legacy in an international context. Its working language is English.
Responsibilities and tasks

Author and support the editing of written materials related to the assigned activities.
Follow current events and policy developments on issues and themes of importance to the project.
Represent the Foundation at external events and consultations.

Qualifications
Minimum of seven years relevant professional experience, including research or advocacy on the theme strengthening multilateralism, or direct experience from within multilateral institutions. Candidates with experience coordinating collaboration between UN entities, Member States and civil society are especially encouraged to apply.
Knowledge of the multilateral system and of the UN in particular. Familiarity with recent academic and policy developments related to protecting and governing global public goods is a must. Expertise on UN reform and its evolution is a merit.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Other language skills are a merit.
Organised, accountable, self-aware, flexible and creative.
Comfortable coordinating and supporting teamwork.
Respect for diversity and appreciation of the social and political nuances of work engaging international civil servants and diplomats.
Willingness and ability to participate in limited international travel, when it becomes possible and safe to do so, in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g. international relations, political science, global studies).

The Programme Manager will report to a Programme Director.
The Programme Manager will be responsible for assigning and monitoring the day-to-day tasks of members of the Multilateralism Project Team.
The Programme Manager will work closely with other internal stakeholders, namely members of the communications and administrative staff, and external stakeholders, including partners and consultants.

Terms of employment
The Programme Manager role will be primarily based at the Foundation's office in Uppsala, Sweden. The Foundation also has a presence in Stockholm, which may be used as agreed with the relevant Programme Director.
Due to the Foundation's standard employment modalities, the selected candidate will be offered a two-year contract with a six-month probationary period. Upon completion of the two-year contract, a tenured position may be offered.
The salary will be determined based on the individual's experience and qualifications.
The Foundation offers generous leave benefits and a wellness allowance, based on full-time employment.
