Professor of Textile Design

The Swedish School of Textiles at the Faculty of Textiles, Engineering and Business provides skills for the textile and fashion sector through education at first-, second- and third-cycle levels within artistic fashion and textile design and within technology, economics and management, through research and through close cooperation with the industry. The school's operations have experienced strong growth with a significant number of students, the creation of new one- and two-year master's degree programmes and extensive research with textile and material technology, smart textiles, textile management, and textile and fashion design.
Job Description
Work tasks consist of teaching and supervision in textile design at first-, second- and third-cycle levels, as well as initiating, leading and participating in artistic research and development projects. Work tasks also include taking part in quality improvement and quality assurance of education in textile design at all three levels. One important aspect of the position involves monitoring subject development, both nationally and internationally, and actively developing and participating in the department's cooperation with the surrounding world.
Qualifications
We are looking for applicants with proven artistic skills within the field of textile design. You should be able to document innovative research or artistic activities at a high international level. Artistic work within the field of textile design should be demonstrated in internationally recognised contexts or in media with good coverage within the field.
You should also have documented experience of artistic development work at second-cycle level, pedagogical work within design with a clear aesthetic focus, and proven experience of working as a main supervisor at both second- and third-cycle levels within the artistic field. For applicants who have mainly carried out research within industry or other operations, other pedagogical skills can be assessed as equivalent after testing.
Experience of textile product design, decoration and design of textile materials are areas of knowledge that would be an advantage for the BA programme in textile design. Design methods specialising in textile design, artistic projects, product design, critical design, etc. are areas of knowledge that would be an advantage for the MA programme.
Good contact with industry and surrounding society to promote the school's collaboration, both nationally and internationally, and proven organisational and administrative skills would also be an advantage.
