Do you want to contribute to improving human health?
Engineered nanomaterials hold great promise in biomedical and other applications.

However, the safety of nanomaterials needs to be carefully evaluated. The post doc will participate in nanosafety research in the European Commission-funded Horizon2020 project BIORIMA.

Your mission
The successful applicant will work in a highly international environment at the Institute of Environmental Medicine, Karolinska Institutet. The project is focused on the in vitro assessment of a range of nanomaterials with particular emphasis on the immune system. The project is embedded in the European Commission-funded project BIORIMA. The post doc will participate in joint activities such as consortium meetings and assist with project reports.

Your profile
Qualified to be employed as a post doc is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence in cell- or molecular biology, microbiology, immunology, or toxicology. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment (documentation required). Excellent communication skills (in English) and an ability to interact with other members of the laboratory, and with other consortium partners, are essential qualities. Experience with the following laboratory techniques is needed: primary cell cultures and cell lines, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, and other standard cell biology techniques. In addition, candidates should be well acquainted with common techniques for physicochemical characterization of nanomaterials.

• Curriculum vitae, including date of PhD defense, previous academic position(s), current position, and list of laboratory skills, and a description of any previous participation in EC funded project(s) or other large consortia (max. 5 pages);
• List of publications, including original articles, review articles, book chapters (do not send any reprints);
• Statement of current/future research interests (max. 1 page);
• At least two signed letters of recommendation from current or former supervisors (submit scanned copies).
