The Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM) is a department at Karolinska Institutet and an interdisciplinary research institution within the broad field of environmental medicine. IMM conducts cutting edge research within the areas of environmental and occupational medicine, toxicology, physiology, epidemiology, and biostatistics with the aim to clarify how environmental and lifestyle factors affect our health and which role genes have. IMM also serves as a scientific advisor to public authorities within the area of environmental medicine and IMM scientists participate in national and international expert groups.

The Intervention and Implementation Research Unit (www.

ki.se/imm/iir) conducts research on occupational health and safety (OHS) with a focus on intervention and implementation. Our vision is that IIR:s activities should contribute to improving working conditions and environment for employers and empolyees where health, well-being and productivity goes hand in hand. Through excellence in research and education the aim is to develop and implement evidence-based and cost-effective methods in society. The research is conducted in the so-called practice based research network, which in this context means working closely with partners such as occupational, employers etc. Our research group is multidisciplinary and consists of approximately 20 employees.

Duties

The candidate will take part in research on the economic effects of OHS interventions which is an important part of the research conducted at the research unit. The main duty related to this post-doctoral position is summarizing the evidence-base on the cost-effectiveness of worksite interventions aimed at, among others, healthy lifestyle, including interventions effect on productivity, sickness absence, presenteeism and return-of-investment. Specific duties include conducting a systematic review of the literature, extracting data from the included studies and summarizing and discussing the results of the included studies.

This is a temporary half-time position until December 2017.

Entry requirements

A person is eligible for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc.

The ideal candidate should hold a PhD in business administration or economics, or have had a focus on health economics in their thesis. The applicant should have prior experience in conducting systematic reviews on worksite interventions, including documented experience of the use of Cochrane-grading tools for both randomized and non-randomized intervention studies. Moreover, the applicant should have good knowledge of productivity and other work-related measures, such as work performance and sickness absence. The candidate should have international academic experience in the given field. It is also an advantage if the candidate is able to demonstrate the ability to independently develop and carry out projects in the field of occupational safety and health (OSH), focusing on health economic aspects. Great emphasis is put on personal suitability of the applicant for this position.
