We are looking for a motivated postdoctor with experience in bioinformatics and microbial ecology to work on a project focusing on metabolic capacity and phylogenomics of microbial communities residing in anoxic freshwater environments. Special focus in the project is in poorly know microbes, such as the members of candidate phyla radiation. The position is located at the Department of Forest mycology and Plant pathology, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Uppsala, Sweden).
The Department of Forest Mycology and Plant Pathology offers a stimulating research environment focusing on fundamental and applied aspects of fungal, bacterial and plant biology. Important research topics at the department include interactions between microorganisms and their environment as well as ecology and evolution. Central themes are biodiversity, nutrient cycling and plant pathology in agricultural and forest ecosystems.

Duties:
We seek a postdoc to analyse metagenomics data in on-going projects in the research group. The tasks include especially processing and analysis of shotgun sequencing data.

Qualifications:
The candidate must hold a PhD in bioinformatics, microbial ecology, biology or similar field. Experience in microbial "omics" analyses is required and a strong background in microbial ecology is desirable. We are looking for a person with strong interest in research and who can work both independently and in teams. Candidate must be fluent in spoken as well as written English.
