Postdoc/researcher
– Reduction of engine emissions from non-road mobile
machinery in a system and life cycle perspective
SLU develops the understanding and sustainable use of biological natural resources. This is achieved through research, teaching, environmental monitoring and assessment and information extension.
SLU has 3 000 employees, 4 200 undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Main campuses are located at Alnarp, Skara, Uppsala and Umeå.
www.slu.sewww.et.slu.seThe Department of Energy and Technology at SLU develops new knowledge within the fields of technology, bioenergy and biometry aiming at a sustainable use of biological resources. The department has about 45 employees and is located at Ultuna, Uppsala.
Increased demand for more environmentally friendly non-road mobile machinery leads to development of more advanced technology for after-treatment of engine emissions. Treatment technology can for example be based on rare metals in catalytic converters or continuous supply of resource intensive materials such as urea. Most technologies will have an impact on the vehicle’s total efficiency.
Job description: The aim of this research is to quantify and compare the total environmental load of different emission reduction strategies. The analysis should be done in a system perspective and include the total life time of the vehicle. The research will be conducted in a group with long experience in both life cycle assessment (LCA) studies and analysis of emissions from mobile machinery.
Eligibility and qualifications: A requirement for this position is a PhD in a technical subject. You should have experience in research on engine/vehicle technology. Experience in evaluation of environmental effects caused by use of technology is a merit.
To be appointed as a Postdoc, applicant should have been awarded their Ph D degree no more than three years ago at the time of application. Applicant awarded their PhD more than three years ago can be appointed as a researcher. The position is full-time and will be granted for a period of two years, starting as soon as possible.
SLU is an equal opportunity employer.
