Postdoc/researcher
– Logistics for Local Food Production and Distribution Chain

The Division of Logistics and Transport is involved in several research areas, in which logistics is the central theme. To develop and improve cooperation in the agri-food chain and in distribution systems, in Swedish and international context, for the purpose of improved economy, product quality, animal welfare and environment, is in the main focus. The main research programs of the division are: (a) Agricultural and Food Chain Logistics; (b) City Logistics; (c) Rural Logistics with special emphasis in developing countries; (d) Animal transport and welfare; (e) Draught animal power and welfare.
Local food logistics is a sub-program under the program of Agricultural and Food chain logistics. The main objective of this sub-program is to develop cost effective alternative supply chain strategies for small scale local food producers and distributors through coordination and integrations within the branch and investigate the potential possibilities of integration with large scale supply chain system, and develop integration model that links both local and large scale supplier.
Job description: The work will focus on networking and integration of data sharing system to develop efficient logistics system for small scale producers and possible integration with large scale food and agricultural logistics. The accepted candidate is expected to work closely with colleagues within a research team of Logistics and Transport at the Department of Energy and Technology, SLU.
Eligibility and qualifications: Applicants should have a PhD degree in the fields related to Logistics and Transport. Competence in modelling and experience or knowledge of data analysis and database management is highly desirable.
To be appointed as a Postdoc, applicant should have been awarded their Ph D degree no more than three years ago at the time of application. Applicant awarded their PhD more than three years ago can be appointed as a researcher. The position is full-time and will be granted for a period of two years, starting as soon as possible.
