The division of Combustion and Propulsion Systems at Chalmers University invites applications for a Postdoc position in internal combustion engines (GDI) with studies on the effect of increased amounts of renewable hydrocarbons in Gasoline (renewable gasoline) on particulate emissions. The position provides excellent opportunities to grow as a researcher. It also includes close collaboration with industry, with regular project meetings. Your research work will focus on measurements, data analysis and writing high quality publications.

Project description
At the Division of Combustion and Propulsion Systems we conduct advanced research in automotive system design, spray and heat-transfer modeling, and hydrogen technology, including fuel cell systems and clean combustion for sustainable transport. We strive to combine computational modeling and experimental validation using non-intrusive diagnostics for reacting and non-reacting flows, especially in areas related to the development of future transport solutions.

Major responsibilities
The aim of the project is to gain deeper understanding of the effects of increased amounts of renewable hydrocarbons on particulate formation. It is an experimental project where particulate data is needed. Measurements in multi-cylinder engine are done by the industrial partner Aurobay and the PostDoc will measure particulates at Chalmers in a single-cylinder engine under various conditions. Visualization of the combustion using endoscope and high-speed camera will also be used.

The aim is to:
(1) Identify conditions where there are differences in particulates between the 3 tested renewable Gasolines.
(2) Investigate what strategies that can be applied in cases where particulates are increased.
(3) Publish results in high quality papers.

Qualifications
You should have a PhD in Applied Physics, Mechanical engineering, Chemistry or equivalent usable for the position. The PhD must be completed before the starting date of employment. Fluency in English is required. Experience working with engines and measurement systems is necessary to qualify for this position.

Contract terms
This postdoc position is a full-time temporary employment for two years.
