Job description: The task is to assess the environmental and resource consequences of using different fertilizers in ecological crop production. To preserve soil fertility, the plant nutrients removed by the crop need to be replaced. In conventional farming this is largely done with chemical fertilizers. In ecological farming, manure, green manure and raw phosphate are presently allowed, while e.g. human urine and super phosphate are not allowed. Your task will be to assess and compare the environmental and resource consequences of the use of a few of these different fertilizers. You will cooperate closely with and co-supervise a PhD student in the project.
Eligibility and qualifications: We are looking for a person with a strong background in LCA and environmental systems analysis who is eager to apply this knowledge to new challenges in a multi-disciplinary research team. Experience of LCA in agriculture is an advantage but not required.
Applicants should have a PhD degree.
The position is for one year with at least 80% of the time available for research. The start date is as soon as possible.
SLU is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
