Post-doctoral position in Functional Genomics
Duties: The main role of the successful candidate is to utilize the wealth of available genetic and bioinformatics data obtained from re-sequencing, transcriptomics, CNV data and analyses of repetitive DNA to establish optimal Molecular Genetic and Functional Genomics approaches to establish functionality of the biological pathways identified to be involved in phenotypic variation in domestic animal genomes. Furthermore, another major focus will be to perform genome-wide epigenetic analyses. You will further develop and improve existing tools and methodologies and is also expected to develop new
methodologies. The areas to which this new post-doctoral researcher could contribute include disease genetics and epigenetics of complex diseases, including immune-mediated
and infectious diseases, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases as well as general traits such as behaviour and reproduction. The work will primarily involve experiments based on data
generated from ongoing research projects at the department in a number of different domestic animal species. We also expect that the job holder will participate in initiating novel cutting-edge research projects. You will interact with scientists in the different
sections at the department to initiate collaborative projects and to participate in different ongoing research projects
Qualifications: The applicant should have a PhD in Molecular Genetics, Genomics or related discipline. Experience with next-generation sequencing technologies and with using domestic animals would be merits. Excellent communication skills in English is also a merit because the research which will pursued is cross-disciplinary and involves interaction with
researchers from a wide range of disciplines.
Form of employment: Temporary employment, two-year fulll-time position
