Volvo Group Operations Graduate Program

If you are up for the challenge of developing the next generation of production plants or distribution centers and want to be a part of the innovative world of Volvo Group, this is the graduate program for you!

During 15 intense and exciting months, the program will give you a holistic view of the Volvo Group's global truck manufacturing organization. You will get to know our different brands and their plants and learn about our logistics organizations and activities. You will take a deep dive into some specific areas of our business such as manufacturing, health and safety, quality, and continuous improvements, while also learning about the end-to-end supply chain, aftermarket parts, and our remanufacturing operations. You will be part of the transformation in our industry, working with new technologies and building the competencies for tomorrow.
In parallel, you will grow your interpersonal skills through individual and team development sessions. You will have a permanent position from day one, with a manager and mentor to support you. You will have the opportunity for several "on-the-job" rotations and experience working on real project assignments. In addition, you will join a number of learning modules where you get together with other program participants to take part in training and events designed to help you grow into your future career at the Volvo Group.

Our organization:
Tuve plant is a complete assembly plant for heavy-duty Volvo trucks with a total of 2000 employees producing over 100 trucks per day. We manufacture our own chassis frames as well as pack parts for our overseas assembly plants. With customers' success as our drive, we continuously improve our production and logistic setup to be the most successful truck manufacturer and to deliver a premium quality truck.

This is us, your new team:

The logistics engineering department at the Tuve factory designs and setup internal logistic flows to deliver all the parts needed to build a heavy-duty premium truck. We are responsible to support and develop all internal logistic processes from goods receiving to point of use. Together with production engineers, logistic and line operators and production managers we work to continuously improve our internal logistic processes. No day looks the same, exciting challenges is always in our path. Adapting to new products, technologies, and legislations in our society we quickly need to transform to be sustainable and competitive.
Today we are about 18 colleagues, with diverse backgrounds, ages and genders. Some have extensive experience from the shop floor and others come directly from the university. We continuously focus on building a strong team with inclusiveness in mind and a great team spirit.

Job Description:

As a logistics engineer, you are responsible for developing and improving the logistic flows stretching from the supplier and all the way to the assembly point in the plant. You are collaborating closely with other engineers, production managers and operators. Lean thinking is the foundation of your work and continuous improvements are a part of the daily work as well as researching the root cause for the issues we face.
We are looking for a Logistics Engineer that can accelerate our digitalization and automation journey. By investigating our current flows, you develop an understanding of our processes and see the gaps to our future wanted position. You are innovative and can create new solutions for new logistic setups. With great commitment you take lead and follow through on our never-ending improvement journey.

Who are you?

To be successful in this position you need to be service-minded, well organized and have good communication and networking skills. But most of all you are a true team player, and you contribute with good team spirit.

We are looking for an analytic person with a strong interest in logistics development. You are ambitious and can work independently and take own initiatives as well as collaborating with others in a cross-functional team. You take responsibility and manage projects successfully when needed. High-paced environments make you excited and you enjoy connecting with many different people during the day.

You like complexity. You have excellent computer skills and enjoy learning new IT-systems and figure out how it is all connected. You see data as a gold mine and can use appropriate tools to make it understandable for everyone.

Required knowledge/experience:
A BSc or MSc in Production Engineering / Supply chain / Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
Maximum two years of previous working experience, prior to or after graduation.
As this is a truly global program, most of your meetings and emails will be in English, hence you need to be fluent in both speaking and writing in English. Swedish is also a requirement for day to day communications in the plant.
Valid work-permit for applied country if not citizen.
You have a passion for developing people, operations and product and are a communicative team player that values the full diversity of the team.
Experience from production, in-plant Logistics and/or supply chain is preferable.
Process oriented and scientifical with a hands-on mentality.
Holistic view and good lean knowledge.
Excellent computer and Excel skills.
Business Analyst competence within e.g., Qlik, MS Power BI/Automate and SQL is a great advantage.
