Nordic Nuclear Trainee Program
Nordic Nuclear Trainee Program (NNTP) is a unique opportunity for young talents. The program will give extensive skills and training for young nuclear professionals who are in the early stage in their career, and it will also offer a great possibility to build networks among nuclear professionals in the Nordic countries. Our offer to you as a Nordic Nuclear Trainee at Vattenfall
Nordic Nuclear Trainee Program is the kickstart of your career within Vattenfall. You will have the opportunity to develop your professional and personal skills over the course of 15 months. In the Nordic Nuclear Trainee Program you will take part in workshops and site visits during the seminar weeks. Each position comes with a competitive salary and an excellent remuneration package.
Every trainee position is linked to a department within a specific business area and a working location. This means that each position has its own specific responsibilities and challenges and matching profile.

Your responsibilities as a Geoscientist
The Department of Site Modelling and Monitoring is working to gather better geoscientific understanding of the site of SKB's planned final repositories. A better understanding of the site ensures the safe construction of the repositories, minimizes the environmental impact on the surrounding areas during the construction phase and creates a solid base for further analysis of the post-closure safety of the repositories.
Key responsibilities:
The main activities within the department are:
Developing investigation and modelling methods
Implementing investigations in the field
Geological, hydrogeological, hydrochemical and ecological monitoring of the area
Modelling of collected site data

As a trainee you will be part of all of the above-mentioned activities. Your main task throughout will be to identify areas where our work can be digitized and, if possible, implement digitalized working procedures.

Your profile
Whether you want a climate smarter career as a specialist, visionary manager or inspirational project lead in the nuclear industry, we offer you these possibilities within the Nordic Nuclear Trainee Program. We are looking for recent graduates holding a Master 's Degree of Science, with a maximum of five years of experience. You are fluent in Swedish and English. Furthermore, you are willing to relocate for possible assignments throughout the organization. Of course you identify yourself with our principles: active, open, positive and safe.
You recognize yourself in the following qualifications:
Education in a field of natural sciences or engineering with specialization in one of the following areas: Environment and water technology, Natural resource technology or Rock and facility technology
To succeed in this role you need to have a good basic understanding in one or more of the following scientific disciples: geology, hydrogeology, rock mechanics or chemistry
You have a great ability to collaborate with others - since you will work within a large collaboration project that requires the involvement of many different skills and people
You have the ability to create a comprehensive picture of a complex task
You have a good ability to structure and plan your work and you are able to work effectively as there will be a lot of work that needs to be put in place within a short period of time

Location
The base location of this role is flexible, either in Forsmark or Solna.

An assessment is also part of the recruitment process and will take place on December 10th. The last step will be a pre-employment screening. Starting date of the Nordic Nuclear Program will be on March 16th 2020.

SKB, Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company, is tasked with managing Swedish nuclear and radioactive waste in a safe way. In 2009 we selected a site for the Spent Fuel Repository and in 2011 we submitted the applications to build the repository in Forsmark.
Since Vattenfall is a part of the Swedish critical infrastructure, many of our services are security classed. If this position is security classed the final candidates might be subjected to a security vetting process, according to the Swedish legislation.
