Network Architect

IT Services (ITS) is responsible for all IT infrastructure within Volvo Car Group globally and a key component of Service Delivery & Operations within Group IT. Our mission is to develop and deliver business valued IT infrastructure services to drive globalisation, growth, change and innovation, with continued cost efficiency. The Network team within ITS Platform is a group with Service Owners and SMEs responsible for the development and delivery of services such as global WAN, LAN and WLAN, external communication to e.g. Internet and cloud services, and network security services. We also have responsibility for Data Centre facilities and for monitoring services. We are a global team, with possibilities to work from different parts of the world and it is our responsibility to support all Volvo Car Group sites with deliverables of IT Infrastructure services and components.

As Network Architect you will drive the development of the Services in cooperation with Service Owners as well as with Enterprise and Domain architects. Within your main responsibilities you will lead service development directions and roadmaps for our services, which supports our overall IT and business strategies. To achieve this you are expected to engage with architects and the wider IT community as well as with our business and other key stakeholders. You will also have a key role in aligning our services with other infrastructure teams, such as hosting and middleware services, to exploit synergies and manage cross service dependencies. Part of your responsibilities will be to initiate and sponsor service development projects. You will also be involved in other infrastructure and application development project, contributing with expertise and ensure alignment with our requirements.

Main responsibilities

• Together with Service Owners develop the services according to strategies, business plans and other requirements
• Use external benchmark and best practice to develop the Services
• Ensure that solutions are coordinated between Network, Hosting and Middleware services to exploit synergies and to manage cross service dependencies
• Early engagement with business, projects and stakeholders to identify the need for Service development to meet future requirements
• Support the Infrastructure Delivery Service team and solution architects in project delivery
• Keeping Technology Standards List (TSL) up to date
• Ensure service roadmaps are documented and made available

Required qualifications

• Deep knowledge of IT Service Management as well as proven experience from on?boarding services in an IT environment
• University degree, or equivalent, in IT
• At least 5 years' experience of IT Infrastructure technologies and experience from managing platforms or products
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Good understanding of ITIL is meritorious
• An asset would be documented leadership and/or project management experience
