The Middle School Manager is responsible for the following:
• Administration of the MYP Programme as defined and expected by the International Baccalaureate Organisation.
• Maintenance of all relevant documentation in relation to the MYP.
• Making recommendations to the K-12 Principal in regard to the following:
o Professional Development
o Course offerings
o Scheduling
o Staffing
o Budgeting
o Facilities use
• Keeping up to date with regard to the MYP.
• Supporting parents and students in course selection.
• Supporting teachers in all facets of the operation and organisation of the MYP.
• Organise and chair regular MYP teacher meetings.
• Liaise with and support the Counsellor in course counselling and subject choices for students.
• Sharing the curriculum responsibilities for students in Grade 10 with the Senior Manager.
Qualifications, Attributes and Experience
The Middle School Manager is expected to have:
• Experience as a Middle School teacher with a strong interest and experience in curriculum development and implementation.
• Teaching experience in a variety of school environments.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• The ability to establish rapport with adults and students.
• A sense of humour.
• The ability to work effectively in a team
• A pleasant and friendly personality.
• The ability to maintain confidentiality.
• The ability to function effectively under pressure.
• The ability to show initiative and work independently.
Time allocation: 40%
Conditions: Teaching responsibilities to include teaching at least one course in Grades 6 to 10. This teaching is in addition to the 40% time allocation for the role of Manager.
The position is vacant from the 1st of January 2008.
