In the living team we develop beds, storages, soft trims, refrigerators, coffee makers and from time to time microvawe owens and much more.
Your future team:
Living is a vital part of the Volvo GTT CAB interior section. Based in Gothenburg, our team holds global responsibility for the Living environment of Volvo heavy-duty trucks. With a team of 20 individuals from diverse backgrounds, ranging from seasoned engineers to juniors, and females and males we have a fantastic team. The team spirit is strong and supportive. Everyone help each other to meet our common goal. By having fun together we overcome the obstacles in front of us. Additionally, we are deeply integrated with teams in India, France and USA, forming a robust global network dedicated to advancing automotive technology within our area. Our primary focus lies in developing the life on board offer. Seeing to that our users has the best possible solutions to have a relaxing spare time during and after work. By offering a wide selection of functions you can spend days or weeks with out the need of going home. Livings responsibility stretches from beds, storage systems, soft trims such as headliners, wall trims and floor mats to interior lightning etc. There are few teams that has a stretch over such a wide spread of materials and technologies. In the team we work from inhouse development to SIPD (supplier involved product development). Together, we have the responsibility and mission to ensure that the living environment continues to be the very best in the Volvo trucks. By doing our part with passion, we ensure that our products stay on top, focusing on our users' well-being, customers' profitability, sustainability, and creating higher value. What you will do
As the Lead Engineer for the interior lightning, you will serve as an Engineering Task Leader (ETL). Your mission is to develop the interior light system. You will lead the development process, ensuring Quality, Delivery, Cost, Features, and Sustainability (QDCFs) standards are met. Collaborating with highly skilled suppliers, that develop the components, and a supportive GTT team, your main responsibilities will include:
• Setting requirements and evaluating supplier work.
• Managing the project timeline, changes, and cost evolution.
• Acting as the primary technical contact for suppliers and leading their technical development efforts.
• Communicating progress to various internal stakeholders, including production, product design, purchasing and feature leaders, requiring strong communication skills to effectively coordinate across different teams.
Who you are
You have a strong engineering background, likely started as a design engineer, and developed a robust T-shaped profile over time. With experience in requirements setting of lightning systems, you have led complex designs with multiple interfaces and stakeholders. You are confident in your knowledge, pragmatic in finding solutions, and skilled at balancing various demands. Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders is second nature to you. You can maintain focus on objectives even under pressure, and you excel at explaining recommendations clearly. As a team player, you understand the importance of a committed timeline and your role in ensuring success.
Experience we seek:
• M.Sc. or B.Sc. degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in product development within the automotive industry and many years of experience in developing injection-molded plastic components.
• Extensive experience leading Supplier Involvement Product Development (SIPD) of complex systems and requirement setting, preferably within interior lights system.
• Experience working in a global environment with multiple sites is preferred.
• Strong knowledge in the development of plastic components.
• Proficiency in communication and presentation techniques.
• Good knowledge of CATIA V5, including surface, part, and drawing design.
• Understanding of requirement documentation (TR writing) and legal requirements.
• Familiarity with PDM Link, KOLA, and MS Project is preferred.
• Proficiency in English, with Swedish as a plus.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and global team management.
