Northvolt is expanding the team with Lead Application Engineers within Automotive technology. You will identify which products that are optimal for our customers applications. This also includes qualifying us and our products to comply with automotive standards. Ensure that we exceed our customer's expectations in the integration and creation of an optimal electric powertrain. The market for electrical vehicles is expanding rapidly and optimized battery solutions will be a crucial part of the transition to a sustainable society.

You will be involved in pre-sales activities and follow tender subsequent projects to ensure that the overall quality and functional requirements are met. The role requires leadership skills, deep technical understanding and the ability to communicate technical solutions to customers and project members.

Key responsibilities include:

Supply stringent and consistent technical expertise to support business development
Unique knowledge of the customer application i.e. EV (or equivalent application)
Identify which product(s) to use and understand how they will perform in the customer application
Develop and maintain technical dialogues through regular and constructive communication
Follow up new business development initiatives, respond to RFQ's, and prepare formal project proposals
Lead product design or product customization work in order to realize a successful integration in our customer application
QA/QC process to ensure products and services meet and exceed consumer expectations
Deliver on-time, at quality projects with high customer satisfaction
This Lead Application Engineer is an integral part of the sales and project execution process. It belongs to the Business Development Team and reports to our Director of Engineering.

Job requires travelling, mainly within Europe on a weekly to monthly basis.

Education/Experience

Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Engineering Physics or equivalent
5-10 years of experience in design of automotive (or equivalent) products or solutions
Client facing experience from sales, project management, or as a technical consultant
Knowledge of Electrical Energy Storage and Battery technology
Startup and growth company experience, especially from hardware companies where sales need to happen before a finished product is in place

Specific Skills/Abilities

Excellent English written and oral communication skills in both technical and business environments
Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as independently
Ability to work in a high profile and often high pressure multi-cultural environment
Thrive working within tight deadlines and excellent at time management
Have plenty of grit, a can-do attitude, an entrepreneurial spirit, a great eye for quality, a sense of humor and a curious mind
