In 2018, Zettle became part of the PayPal family. Zettle is on a mission to help small businesses succeed in a world of giants. Tens of millions of small businesses worldwide are still being underserved by the traditional players. By giving small businesses the tools to get paid, sell smarter and grow, we're empowering them to reach their full potential. Together with PayPal, we can reach 24 million merchants across the world with more of the affordable tools they need to thrive. Join us in putting an end to the ordinary way the world defines financial freedom.

As we continue our quest to democratise financial services, we are now looking for one more passionate Backend Developer to join our Order Team. In this role, you will be part of a diverse and cross-functional Team working on features that enable merchants from all around the world to efficiently manage their orders. To carry out our mission, we rely on dedicated teams embracing the opportunity to openly discuss and challenge each other on the best way forward. If this already sounds interesting to you, the best is yet to come... scroll down and read on!

Go where people speak your language
At Zettle, everyone actively contributes to building the best one-stop-shop for small businesses. While we take pride in how far we've come, we have no intention of sticking to known patterns or old truths as we think that breaking the status quo is key when it comes to innovation. Part of our Point of Sale Alliance, the core mission of the Order Team is to help our merchants sell products and services in whatever way best fits their business needs.

In this role, you will get the opportunity to closely collaborate with Client developers in order to create a tailored API and user experience for our merchants, as well as with backend developers in charge of developing a robust end-to-end solution catered to our user's needs. Are you still with us? If yes, keep scrolling!

A glimpse of what you would get here

At Zettle, we all believe in using the best tools for the task and that's why we continuously review our toolkit, architecture and ways of working. Today we work with Java 15, Kotlin, GraphQL, Dropwizard, Wildfly, Docker, Terraform, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, and everything is hosted on Amazon Web Services.

On a day-to-day basis, you will have a mission to architect and develop your code while taking care of the infrastructure and monitoring our systems. Overall, your everyday life would include:

* Design, implement and maintain features with a high level of autonomy;
* Take part in system design and collaborate with teams and other developers across the whole Backend Chapter, including code reviews, bouncing ideas and mob programming;
* Experiment and learn about design, technology and processes;
* Ensure a high level of quality, usability and maintainability of the reusable components and code.

The traits you need to exceed

We believe that you are a great teammate known for your ability to take and solve technical challenges for a common purpose. Grounded and humble, you naturally share your knowledge, experience and opinions without ever losing sight of the importance for everyone to have a chance to contribute to the team's success. Lastly, you make it fun.

The skills you need to succeed

* Programming in Java with modern frameworks as Dropwizard or Spring Boot.
* SQL databases as PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases as Cassandra.
* An expertise in designing and maintaining Libraries/APIs for external users;
* Great communication and collaboration skills combined with a desire to join a diverse team working in an agile environment.

Earn extra points if you are...

* Consistently keeping up to date with the latest evolutions in the tech world;
* Experienced (+ happy) in pair/mob programming;
* Familiar with Kotlin (would be really good...).

Sounds like you? Bring your talent to our attention!

If you also believe in financial inclusion, let's take things further! We'd love to hear from you so go on, hit apply and/or let's talk!
