WORKING AT MÖLNLYCKE
To further enhance our performance, we are now hiring an Industrial PhD Student in AI and Machine Learning to the Medical Economics department. In this position you will be at the forefront of AI, Advanced Analytics and Med-Tech for wound care!
You will be part of a research collaboration between Mölnlycke Health Care, Halmstad University and Region Halland.
With your skills and access to real world data you will be a part of a team who is dedicated to predict the next best action for wound care patients and by that improving patients' lives.
The Industrial PhD Student will be based at Mölnlycke HQ (Gothenburg) or Halmstad University and report to the Clinical Data Science & Statistics Manager.

Programme Description
The purpose of the position is to train as a PhD student by performing research in the interface between real world wound care data and AI. In this position you will develop your skills as an industrial PhD Student, build knowledge on care pathways and patient journeys spanning across care providers and grow to become an independent researcher able to contribute with new knowledge to the field. You will transform ideas and insights to develop and refine computational methods that will aid wound care patients in their healing journey.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Design and build explorative, predictive- or prescriptive models within wound care, utilizing AI and ML algorithms.
Develop advanced analytics and AI algorithms
Research wound care processes and pathways using electronic healthcare record data, spanning the full patient journey to guide and improve personalized wound care
Train as an industrial PhD student at Halmstad University, School of Information Technology and the CAISR Health research profile. Among the duties this includes to follow an individual study plan, attend courses and academic supervision meetings as well as writing a thesis.

Education and Experience
Master's degree in computer science, statistics, machine learning, mathematics, informatics or a related field.
Excellent skills in scientific programming and analytical problem solving
Real world experience in AI and machine learning. Prior practical experience in deep learning, data mining and/or process mining is advantageous.
Excellent networking, collaboration, communication skills
Fluency in English, spoken and written
Eligible for attending PhD studies, sufficient for admittance to the National Research School in Health Innovation General syllabus for doctoral studies in Signals and Systems Engineering (hh.se)
Experience in one or more programming languages such as Python, R, SAS, Matlab, Java, C
Experience with one or more database query languages, sql , sparql, bigquery etc


Extra meritious, any of the following
Knowledge of data and information management, database design and semantic data management
Previous experience of the medical device industry, wound care products and/or treatment
Prior experience in scientific research and writing
Experience with cloud data science services in Azure, AWS or similar

Doctoral studies details
Duration: This position will be hired on a temporary contract corresponding to full-time doctoral studies of 4 years
Location: Gothenburg, at the Mölnlycke® headquarters.
Travel to Halmstad is required to complete doctoral education at School of Information Technology (ITE) at Halmstad University. Travel expenses are paid by Mölnlycke.
