ABOUT UMC
Uppsala Monitoring Centre (UMC) is an independent, self-funded, non-profit foundation established in 1978. UMC is a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre and oversees the technical and scientific operations of the WHO Programme for International Drug Monitoring, covering more than 95% of the world's population. UMC is the custodian of VigiBase, which is the largest global database of suspected adverse events of medicines and vaccines. In addition to working in drug safety signal monitoring, UMC has developed WHODrug Global, which is the world's most widely used drug dictionary, and is advancing pharmacovigilance through science and innovation, education and communication. UMC is governed by a board appointed by the Swedish government and WHO, and has approximately 150 employees based in Uppsala (Sweden).

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Head of Product Management is responsible for the line management of a team of over 15 product managers, owners and specialists. The Head of the Product Management section of UMC is part of the leadership team of Portfolio & Product Management (P&PM) and reports to the Head of the P&PM department. The Product Management section works both with product development and support, within signal monitoring with our VigiBase portfolio, and with our drug dictionary WHODrug Global and our initiatives within the Identification of Medicinal Products (IDMP) standards. The section is also responsible for our custom search function in our database of suspected adverse events VigiBase. The Head of Product Management will work closely with the two Portfolio Officers in the department and will support the members of the section in both internal and external interactions. The role:

- has responsibility for line management, as well as budget and staffing, of the Product Management section
- is a member of the leadership team of the Portfolio & Product Management department
- supports the section and the function in internal and external interactions
- fulfils line management deliverables and execution in accordance with UMC's targets and values
- ensures that the product portfolio remains vital, competitive and of the high quality expected by UMC customers

Educational:

-
University degree in Life Sciences or equivalent professional experience

-
Product development experience and project management and business administration education desirable

Professional experience:

-
Minimum 5 years of life science/pharmaceutical experience, ideally with some work in product development

Previous line management experience

-
Preferably previous experience of working in a global environment

Technical/functional area skills:

Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

Proficiency in line management in complex matrix organisations

Understanding of product development of digital solutions and services for life science applications

Personal skills:

Excellent collaboration skills to easily inspire and influence people to commit to work together towards common goals

Excellent coaching and people management skills

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Languages:

- Fluent in oral and written English

Systems (IT):

- Experienced user of MS Office package
