Sandvik Group is a listed company and a truly global business, which needs to comply with multiple laws and regulations around the world. Within Sandvik, compliance is a key priority. We are committed to conducting our business with honesty, integrity and high ethical standards to meet our legal requirements as well as stakeholder expectations. We also believe it is the right thing to do. We actively work to ensure that we do business in an ethical and compliant manner throughout the entire Sandvik organization - always!
We are looking for a Head of Compliance to continue developing and driving this important area by enhancing and leading the regulatory compliance programs across the Sandvik Group. You are one of our key Sandvik resources to further develop our ethical culture by creating awareness and actively promoting the importance of compliance throughout the entire organization. We believe that digital tools are key to fully embedding compliance in our business and providing full transparency and therefore need someone who can continue to drive our digital agenda as well as staying on top of regulatory trends in this fast-moving area.
Let's talk about your mission
In this position, you will lead our four compliance programs that are currently set up within the Sandvik Group - Data Privacy, Competition Law, Trade Compliance/Third Party Management and Anti-Bribery & Corruption - and you will work closely with the team that manages our whistleblowing process as an active part of our Sandvik Ethics Committee. As Sandvik operates a decentralized business structure, you will also work together with, and have oversight of, the compliance teams in our business areas. Other important items on your agenda are developing policies and procedures, executing plans, providing training to the business as well as the compliance teams, setting ways of working and providing digital tools and guidance for consistent implementation of the compliance program across the business areas. The Head of Compliance role has grown with the regulatory developments and the Sandvik organization over the years, and we expect this to continue to evolve over time.
Together with your team of six Group Compliance professionals, you will take ownership of our inhouse compliance tool, the Compliance House, which is used by our operations to manage compliance risks and to provide insights into risk levels and compliance maturity in Sandvik's entities, as well as several other apps and digital tools under development. You will chair the Compliance Functional Council that sets the direction and strategy for the Compliance programs and the Compliance function, in close collaboration with our business areas. You will keep close interactions with the Group Executive Management and the Board Audit Committee as you will report on compliance matters and closely collaborate with the assurance functions Governance, Risk Management, Internal Audit and Internal Controls. In all of your work, you develop and rely on strong networks and great collaborations, empowering people to find efficient solutions and look at new perspectives with a strong ethical compass to guide you through tough decisions.
As Head of Compliance, you will report to the Executive Vice President General Counsel of Sandvik Group, and you will be a valued member of our Group Legal Management team. You will also regularly have direct interactions with the Sandvik President & CEO and the Audit Committee, to which you report regularly throughout the year. The location for this position is flexible within reason for time zones practical for travelling to and working with our Head office in Stockholm. In order to stay close to the business and effectively drive the compliance journey, international travelling will be required.
Your background and character
You likely have a law degree (or an equivalent education in business or finance) and extensive experience from working at an inhouse legal/compliance organization of an international corporation, with a regulatory body and/or a reputable law firm on compliance matters. Broad knowledge in the field of compliance, anti-corruption, trade, data privacy and competition law is required, with expert knowledge in one or more areas preferred. Your understanding of the practical aspects of building and sustaining a well-embedded compliance program in the manufacturing industry is a strong merit. With a strategic outlook and a collaborative and persuasive working style, you will find your way in our decentralized structure, able to be a strong leader both for your direct teams as well as indirectly for all parts of our business. As we act in a global setting, you must be fluent in English, while skills in other languages are beneficial.
We are looking for your passion for compliance and visionary thinking. You know how to translate your knowledge and experience into business advantages, and you are skilled at balancing small details with the bigger picture. With an open mind and a collaborative approach, you make things happen and deliver result. To interact in diverse environments excites you, and you use your good communication skills to influence and bring people on board.
