The advertised position is based in Umeå, Sweden, at the Departmrent of forest ecology and management (Swedish university of agricultural sciencees).

The advertised position entails mainly outdoor field work, but also simple lab tasks and sample preparation. Several field experiments will be established that focus on aspects of forest. This involves planting seedlings, preparing experiemntal treatments and establishing field sites for the research projects. The field assistant will work together with the responsible scientists leading the project.
Duties:
• Burying root-barriers in the soil
• Planting and harvesting seedlings
• Performing seedling surveys
• Sample preparation in the lab
• Additional tasks related to the project
Qualifications:
We are looking for a well-organized person with a positive attitude to problem solving and teamwork.
The successful applicant is not required to have previous experience with scientific work, but in such work it is often necessary to carefully follow specific procedures, so it is important that the field assistant can follow instructions given in Swedish or English.
Some of the work can be heavy (like digging), other tasks will require care (like harvesting seedlings without damaging the fine roots).

Umeå and most of the work will be within driving distance from there
