Vattenfall

Vattenfall

Vattenfall Nuclear Fuel AB (VNF) procures, dimensions and delivers nuclear fuel to Vattenfall AB's nuclear power plants. Therefore, we have worldwide business relations with suppliers of uranium, conversion, enrichment and fabrication. The company provides technical analysis and services related to the fuel and reactor operation.

VNF has about 55 employees well distributed with respect to age, gender and background. A majority of the employees are engineers educated at university level. Our office is located in Stockholm.

The main task for the department for Nuclear Design and Analysis is to perform the nuclear design and core design for the fuel to Vattenfall's nuclear power plants Ringhals and Forsmark. The department also provides different types of analyses within its competence area; reactor physics, thermal hydraulics and transient analysis. Such assignments are performed individually or as a part in larger projects where several technology disciplines cooperate. Examples of reoccurring assignments are review of licensing analyses for new types of nuclear fuel or determination of core design and safety analyses for the yearly outages at the power plants. To perform these tasks the department uses advanced computer codes to simulate both static and transient conditions in the core.

Together with our customers (the power plants) and suppliers we continuously work to improve our processes and products. Close cooperation with both customers and suppliers is therefore a natural part of our day to day business.
The Assignment For the years to come we see an increased need of advanced thermal hydraulic expertise in our safety analyses. Therefore we now seek experts in thermal hydraulics with emphasis on methods and models for simulation and evaluation of fuel performance during both normal operation and accidents.

Your main task will be to support modeling and simulation of nuclear fuel thermal-hydraulic behavior in both operational and safety applications. Some of the calculation codes used for simulation are POLCA7, SIMULATE-3, SIMULATE-3K, BISON and TRACE. You will also deal with the different technical issues that arise within the thermal-hydraulic field, and be our expertise in the contact with customers and suppliers.

The work includes close contacts with colleagues in the company, with our customers in Forsmark and Ringhals and with our suppliers of nuclear fuel and computer software.

We care for our employees' competence and personal development. Participation in conferences and trainings to further develop your expertise is a natural part of your professional role

Qualifications
As a minimum you have an University degree, equivalent to a Master's degree or similar. A licentiate or doctoral degree in the field is seen as a great advantage.

Preferably, you have a large and well documented experience of working with thermal hydraulics and safety analyses in the nuclear power industry. Skills in programming is a must.

As a person you are analytical, self-driven and get things done. You work independently and take own initiative. However working together with others in various forms of project is also something you appreciate.

You can express yourself orally and in writing in both Swedish and English, and are skilled in documenting your work and to present it in a way that is understandable for a broader audience.

Location
Stockholm, Solna. For the right person more flexible arrangements may be discussed.
