The Project Leader Department is a pivotal group in the IMED RIA, leading the transformation of great science generated in the wider organization, to excellent AstraZeneca business opportunities that meet patient needs. The department consists of Project Leaders with a solid scientific background and strong leadership skills who lead, science, discovery and drug development strategies for early assets in a cross functional matrix - from Target Identification up to end of Ph2b clinical evaluations.

We are looking to hire a Project Leader with strong integrity and leadership capabilities, experienced in driving early phase projects. We believe that you have a scientific background supplemented by a PhD. You possess great stakeholder management skills and are a natural communicator, which lead to innovation, motivation and an entrepreneurial environment. Bold ambitions are balanced with risk management and you aim to build a strong disease area and scientific understanding within the project team to deliver high quality results, in right time, at right cost. To do this, you seek both internal and external influence and encourage smart risk taking. Your colleagues will count on you to provide feedback and coaching and you will be challenged to develop and learn via collaboration with other project leaders.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

* Lead projects with integrity and influence stakeholder environment
* Drive project strategy and scientific rigour in alignment with disease area and portfolio strategy
* Manage cost effective project resourcing
* Handle risk management
* Effective project communication
* Develop Target Product Profiles for early space assets

Essential Requirements

* Advanced degree in Life Sciences
* Documented Leadership from cross-functional and cross-cultural environment
* Drug project experience from discovery
* Awareness of scientific as well as regulatory and broader strategic aspects
* Excellent communication skills

Desirable Requirements

* Track record of scientific excellence measured via scientific publications
* Experience of working with Respiratory or Inflammatory disease areas
