hela Sverige The University of Borås wants to become the third university in western Sweden. Our ambition is to be a complete seat of learning where the students come first. In collaboration with private industries and with the public sector, we provide education and research which is of high international quality, and great social relevance. The University of Borås has around 11,000 students and 730 employees, and our campus is conveniently located in the city centre. We conduct research in Library and Information Science, Business and IT, The Human Perspective in Care, Teacher Education and Education Work, Resource Recovery and Textiles and Fashion. The University of Borås has the right to award five types of academic degrees and to conduct research within four areas: Library and Information Science, Resource Recovery, Textiles and fashion (general as well as design) and The Human Perspective in Care.
Our Polymeric E-textiles research group recently received funds for research in the areas of actuators and haptics. Actuators are components that, under the influence of various stimuli, can be made to move or to carry out mechanical work. Haptics is the science or, in this case, the technology, dealing with the sense of touch. The doctoral student will be part of a new, very interesting scientific field studying, defining and creating soft haptic technology. The doctoral student is affiliated to the Wearable Actuators for Integration into Garments (WEAFING) project, which is a major European research project within the H2020 programme. It involves six European partners. Travel in Europe working at the partners and presenting scientific results at conferences and to stakeholders might therefore be part of the work.
The doctoral student will be part of the Polymeric E-textiles research group. The student is supervised by docent Nils-Krister Persson and with Dr Li Guo as the co-supervisor.
