About Us - Group Design Lead at Closure Mechatronics
The department Side & Roof is one of the departments within the unit Vehicle Platform. At Side & Roof Doors & Greenhouse systems are developed to be functional & user oriented with a high level of craftmanship. Closure Mechatronics is one of seven groups within the despartment. The group Closure Mechatronics are developing mechatronic system solutions for latches, handles, window regulators, recharge modules and POT (Power Operated Tailgates). The development work at Closure Mechatronics is done in close collaboration with Full-Service suppliers. The group covers work from early concepts and advanced engineering to start of production for a new vehicle program development. To ensure a good customer experience and profitable products, Closure Mechatronics is continuously working to improve part quality & to find cost savings. The group Closure Mechatronics is now looking for a Group Design Leader (GDL) to reinforce the development of re-charge modules and POT-systems.

Assignment and Scope
The GDL will take lead in the development for mechatronics systems for rear end, with a focus on re-charge modules and POT-systems. To be successful the GDL needs to ensure a close collaboration with the Full-Service Suppliers and coordinate the cross functional team, consisting of needed competences within Volvo Cars and from the supplier. The function, performance, and quality are to be secured by the GDL in a close cooperation with the cross-functional team. It is important that the GDL makes sure that cost and timing targets are met and balanced with requirement from stakeholders.

Deliverables and responsibilities
* Lead the global development work and implementation of Closure Mechatronic components with focus on Re-Charge Module & POT
* Cooperate with Full-Service suppliers across the world to ensure that technical solutions and documentations are available at the right level and at the right time
* Collaborate proactively with other Volvo cars R&D HW teams, SW teams, El system teams, function teams, attributes, design, manufacturing, finance, procurement, and quality to secure a cross functional delivery
* Collaborate within Closure Mechatronics to share knowledge and experience between programs and ways of working
* Run cross functional engineering meetings, take lead, and make sure necessary decisions take decisions
* Develop the future Closure Mechatronic systems, as well as solving hands-on quality issues in running production
* Continuous optimize and improve our parts by balancing cost, weight, performance, and quality
* Take responsibility for time, technic and cost for each specific task and secure project deliverables according to Volvo Product Development System
* Follow virtual analysis, part prototypes and car build series and solve potential issues found in the verification and validation
* Secure data in all relevant systems (e.g., Pecca Procost, KDP, TCPLM, TCe, Catia)
* Report status and progress

Competence Requirements - Experience and background
* High knowledge and long experience from working with Mechanical systems and mechatronics.
* Expertise within re-charge Modules.
* Know-how withing POT systems and POT calibration.
* Long experience within project management as a Task leader (GDL/KU) working within automotive industry, preferably Volvo Cars.
* Experience from working with Hardware development and Software development with suppliers in an international environment.
* Has knowledge and can work independently according to Volvo Product Development System.
* Experience from VCC tools like KDP, Pecca procost, VPC, VIRA, TcE etc.
* Experience from introducing new concepts.
* Technical university degree (or equivalent knowledge from practical experience)
* Fluent in English (written and spoken)

* Ensure ownership by drives issues to solutions, by making sure needed information are presented and that decision are taken
* Transparent with project status and progress
* Can manage ambiguity and find it exiting to work in a development environment with a high rate of change and complex problems to solve
* Prestige less and can work with a big range of issues from quality issues and concept work
* Value differences and understand different perspectives
