The HVDC System Design department is responsible for electrical design of HVDC plants. Rating studies, specification of high voltage equipment, definition of concepts for control and protection design as well as system studies are part of our scope of work.
In the Main Circuit Design team your main task will be the design of high voltage systems. This primarily means that you will perform electrical calculations and simulations for the dimensioning of HVDC systems and converter plants. You will be using ABB in-house built softwares and some of the commercially available softwares. Your responsibility will cover everything from support of our Sales department during the marketing phase, over tenders and order projects, to verifying measurements on the converter sites. You will be developed in your competence as expert of HVDC system technology. You will participate and contribute to expert groups internally within ABB and internationally on different platforms not only to represent ABB but also to contribute to HVDC standards.
You either have a PhD or a Master in Electrical/Electronic/Energy systems Engineering. It will be plus if you are familiar with some of the programs and tools - such as PSCAD/EMTDC, Matlab, Risk Spectrum and similar electrical/electronic tools. Since we work in an international environment you need to be proficient in spoken and written English. It's plus if you know Swedish, German or French. In addition, you have a strong theoretical and practical technical interest.
As a person you need to be a team-player and work in an analytical and structured manner. Good communication skills are required for the job. You take responsibility for your work and deliver on time.
