hela Sverige What do we do: Scaling our platform to handle tens of thousands of req/s with zero downtime, providing real time reports and forecasts based on billions of log rows and building a simple and intuitive UI that lets clients easily traffic their campaigns andmaximize their sales; these are some of the complex challenges that make dev work at Videoplaza really interesting and rewarding. To be able to do all this with limited resources we use the best frameworks and tools out there or, when they are not goodenough, we write our own. Most of the code we write is in Java, but the platform is anything but your average JEE app.
How we do it: As a Platform Engineer you would join a team working on the core back-end functionality of the product. The team’sresponsibilities include handling of performance and scalability of core components, selection and implementation of data storage solutions, architecting core service infrastructure etc. In short, providing a solid and scalable platform on whichother teams can build specific features. At Videoplaza we practice Agile development with proper Scrum (or in some cases Kanban) and rely heavily on XP practices such as TDD, pair programming, code reviews and continuous integration. More importantly, we’re constantlyevaluating ourselves and our processes, trying to find better ways of doing things and helping each other improve. We’reabsolutely convinced that in order to be really good at something, you need to truly enjoy doing it. We aim to create a fun workplace and believe that a great atmosphere plays an important role in bringing the very best out of every individual.
Who we’re looking for: Most importantly, you should be an outstanding software developer. Additionally we would like you to have experience of working with a modern high performance/big data application running on the JVM. We code mostly in Java and use frameworks and tools such as Guice, MongoDB, Redis, Couch DB, Hadoop, Cassandra, RESTEasy, Jackrabbit, Protocol Buffers, Maven, GWT, Hibernate and Spring. Solid experience of one or more of these is no doubt a bonus, but if you’re the kind of person we’re looking for,you’ll be able to pick up new languages and frameworks quickly and easily anyways. Another thing we insist on is that you have a passion for what you do and a hunger for learning new things. We constantlyevaluate ourselves and try to find better ways of doing things. We expect you to do the same and - just as important - help others improve as well.
All meetings and written communication at Videoplaza are in English. Swedish is not a requirement.
