We are looking for an experienced person that can help us understand how to build a content licensing strategy around food and broadcast media.
This would be a role that is involved in developing our content rights and potentially a TV format for creating a Masterchef like competition for Lunch.Co participants.
It requires both experience of UK and Swedish TV licencing rights and being a native English speaker. The role is to be based in Sweden where the business is currently predominantly operating from, however will need to take into account the UK market environment as part of the strategy.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in the role in particular with TV sales formats and rights licencing - however, the nature of this role is one that will start off as an entry level role in the preparation phase but it is expected the candidate will have the skills and potential to develop the role rapidly into a more senior role.
The Content rights manager develops and oversees licencing rights for broadcast and related products, in order to ensure that the company maximises its value from the content and platform.
This would include arranging local and foreign rights, development of broadcast formats as well as the sale of rights to broadcast and TV channels.
The rights executive will coordinate the whole process, from initiating the sale of a publication to new contacts through to ensuring that a particular publication is produced on schedule. Their work involves liaising with editors and other publishers, and depending on the size of the organisation may either cover the publishing rights for a specific section, or the whole of the business.
Responsibilities
The content rights manager's typical work activities are focused on increasing the profitability of a company's platform content and usually include:
Liaising with TV channels, distributors and production teams
Agreeing rights for foreign editions, updates and co-editions
Negotiating translation rights
Maintaining positive working relationships with producers and channel customers
Designing and developing the 'format' ready for TV production and licencing
Identifying suitable new content for production and liaising with relevant contacts
Developing new links with Swedish, UK and overseas content creators
Writing 'pitch' letters to new contacts and 'soft selling' the Lunch.Co concept
Undertaking negotiations with relevant partners regarding, for example, complex legal agreements and contracts
Identifying new format opportunities and initiating contact with channel partners
Submitting proposals for new content to the editorial team, using your market knowledge
Travelling overseas to attend meetings and develop new contacts
Assessing the financial viability of agreements
Requirements
Minimum 5 years' experience in business affairs, rights & clearances or licensing capacity in the television/music/entertainment industry
Bachelor degree
Strong negotiation and contract administration skills
Ability to prioritize, juggle various tasks and work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
Exceptional organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle confidential information with a high level of discretion, sensitivity and professionalism
Must be resourceful, extremely organized and a team player
Highly proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel
Salary
Salary to be competitive with between 22000-30000 SEK per month with opportunity for equity options in the business.
