Concept Leader - Strategy, Concepts and Advanced Engineering
The development within Active Safety, Driver Support & Vehicle Dynamics has been one of the fastest growing parts of Volvo R&D for the last decade. Volvo is the leading car manufacturer within this area and we are consistently launching world first features in our vehicles.
Active Safety department consist of over 300 engineers and is responsible for the development and verification of Active & Passive Safety, Autonomous Drive and Vehicle Dynamics systems and functions.
The Strategy, Concepts and Advanced Engineering section lead and coordinate the work with Strategy Plans, Advanced Engineering, Concept work and Collaboration with external partners/companies within the complete areas of (Active Safety). Our team is working in close collaboration with SA, Technical Specialists, Principal Engineer's and Development & Verification engineers
Within the section, we are now recruiting a Concept Leader
As a Concept Leader will you lead & drive the concept work for Strategy, Concepts and Advanced Engineering in close collaboration with our and SA1 and 2 network, Principal Engineering's and the program leaders. Note that we within Strategy, Concepts and Advanced Engineering have two unit programs running within Active Safety and Autonomous Drive i.e. our concept work need to evolve into a more continuous work/process. So apart from leading todays work of concept studies, there will be a need to take part in the work of redefine end develop how we perform concept studies. An import role as a concept leader is to go beyond coordination and make sure that we make a refined proposal of the concept offer.
Main responsibilities
* Manage, plan and lead the concept work within Strategy, Concepts and Advanced Engineering.
* Anchored and documented concept content for our department.
* Time plan, budget and resource offer for the concept phase and industrialization phase.
* A recommended balanced concept content offer
* Actively take part in and developing how we work with concept/program/PSS interaction within/ across departments and units.
Required qualifications
* Technical education on University level (Master of Science or similar).
* Practical and theoretical knowledge about the Volvo product development process and especially the electrical development process, or experience of analysis & verification/product development within electrical engineering in another business area.
* Experience from leading analysis & verification or product development assignments and ability to motivate a team to deliver on time, meeting agreed requirements using new ways of working.
* Fluent in English (spoken and written).
* Driving license (B).
