Job description
Volvo Power Train is looking for a qualified designer in the field Complete Basic Engine, located at the construction group Motor Structure.
The section Basic Engine has three parallel design teams in the department Engine Development.
The construction group "Engine Structure" within Basic Engine Development primarily develops their own developed engine's larger castings, as well as conceptual solutions for engine architectures.
The group has cylinder block, cylinder head and oil sump as main components, but also functions such as seals and crankcase ventilation is part of the group's responsibility.
We are currently 15 employees who work closely with our engine plant in Skövde, as well as our suppliers within and outside Sweden.
The group has CAD 3D/2D work in the system Catia V5 as its primary task.
Complex geometries together with overall engine performance requirements and manufacturing requirements characterise our everyday lives, as well as a wide circle of contacts within and outside the company.
We deliver on a project basis to our various assignments that run full engine and further full car developments or changes of existing product.
Main tasks
• Perform concept work in the field of basic engine gasoline and diesel
• Model 3D geometry in Catia V5 solid, creating layouts and expenses
• Interact with our internal engine plant in order to create a manufacturing solution
• Create together with colleagues within and outside Basic Engine Development the correct engine architecture
• Develop within the company, the best-balanced engine concept in our new wagon project including hybridisation, together with colleagues
• Participate in and influence the compilation of future strategies on a basic engine and full engine level
Who are you?
Qualifications
• Graduated Master of Science in Engineering or University Engineer
• At least five years relevant construction experience
• Educated and active in 3D/2D CAD, Catia V5 is an advantage.
• Experienced PC user (Excel, Power Point primary)
• Good knowledge of English, both written and spoken
• Engine interest
• Committed and self-driven
• Comprehensive view
• Good co-operating skills, since you will operate in cross-functional teams
• Inventive and curious
• Knowledge of analysis/calculation is qualifying
