Within Vehicle Propulsion, the Section Exhaust and Cooling system is located. Cooling system are around 60 people and divided in three groups, Inner cooling, Outer cooling and System development Cooling system. The three groups are working close together and have the total responsibility for the complete cooling system, which consists of heat exchangers, cooling fans, pumps, valves, air separators, hoses, pipes, thermostats etc.
Green Propulsion and Thermal management are increasingly important attribute areas for Volvo Cars towards becoming the most desired luxury brand. Cooling System has a key role in setting those attributes and balancing in between them. The systems are getting more advanced and complex including different temperature levels, cooling down, heating up, transfer/transportation and storage of heat.
As Concept Design Engineer for complete cooling system, you will work in early project phases and advanced engineering projects in cooperation with the System responsible, Component responsible and other departments. You will have the opportunity to start pretty much from scratch and use your experience, knowledge and creativity to create new design proposals and solutions. In other cases you will tune and optimize current designs.
Main Tasks
* Design/packaging of Cooling system in concept phase, including hoses in rubber and plastic, sheet metal brackets, pumps, valves, heat exchangers, cooling fans, degas bottle etc
* Design and release Catia models
* Participate in design and packaging meetings
Required qualifications
* B.Sc. in Mechanical engineering or equivalent based on work experience
* 3 years of experience in Mechanical Design using Catia V5
* VCC TeamCenter experience
* Fluent in English (written and spoken)
* Knowledge from automotive design
