The main purpose of the Air Induction System is to clean and transport air to the engine combustion chamber. The system consists of a low pressure side and a high pressure side. Other important attributes that have to be considered, when designing the system, is to reduce noise, inhibit snow and water intrusion and have as low pressure drop as possible within the given design area. To reduce the noise level resonators are used and the design and number of resonators is dependent of the application. The components in the system are manufactured in plastic (both injection and blow moulded), rubber and aluminium.
