Alstom is recruiting a Mechanical Designer for its Brake System division located in Västerås, Sweden. This newly created division aims to capitalize Alstom know-how on brakes and to define brake products for its rolling stock applications. The Brakes System Department innovates and defines the brakes of the future, foster cooperation between customers, suppliers, and academics. Its scope includes product & industrial strategy, offer & contract execution, product safety, reliability improvement, and return of experience.
As Mechanical Designer , you are responsible for the whole mechanical scope of Brake System.
Your mission is to:
Perform the detailed mechanical design of the brake sub-assembly
Verify the respect of mechanical design rules (material strength, screwed assembly, tolerances, etc.)
Produce the 3D model of the brake sub-assembly integrating pneumatic, electrical and electronics components
Ensure the consistency of the digital mock-up (e.g. no clashes) and its compliance with the allocated volume
Issue the bill of material
Calculate the mass of the brake sub-assembly
Issue the shock & vibration test specification and follow up the test
Being integrated into multicultural teams working on railway projects for the European and international market, you will develop your skills progressively in the railway domain. The role provides an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated, driven individual to contribute significantly to the success of Alstom organisation.
Your profile:
Engineering degree in mechanics
Experience in mechanical design for the railway industry
Rigor, autonomy and team working
Fluent in English
Swedish is an advantage but not a requirement
Occasional travels in Europe and abroad
