Institutionen har omkring 380 anställda och därutöver drygt 200 registrerade doktorander. Omsättningen är cirka 380 miljoner kronor.
Arbetet på institutionen är i hög grad integrerat med de kliniska verksamheterna vid Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset, S:t Eriks ögonsjukhus samt Stockholms läns landsting (SLL). Division
The successful candidate will work in the Epigenetic group headed by Dr M.
Jagodic (
http://ki.se/en/cns/maja-jagodics-research-group ). The group is a part of the prominent Neuroimmunology Unit that gathers around 50 researchers working on different aspects of pathogenesis of Multiple Sclerosis, including genetics, epidemiology, immunology and epigenetics, with excellent clinical cohorts and experimental models. The Epigenetics group is physically located at the Center for Molecular Medicine (
http://cmm.ki.se ), which gathers ~500 researchers working on common complex diseases, and it has extensive national and international collaborations. The group studies epigenetic mechanisms underlying neuroinflammation and neuronal loss in Multiple Sclerosis using both large-scale omics approaches and molecular in vivo and in vitro functional experiments.
Duties
We have one of the worldâ's largest collections of clinical material with multiple omics data and we are looking for a person who can participate in and partially lead the analysis and interpretation of the data. This includes implementing routine analysis of data generated from different platforms (e.g. Illumina 450K, RNAseq, BSseq) as well as developing new tools and solutions (e.g. integration and interpretation of multilayer genomic, transcriptomic and epigenomic data). The work includes experimental planning and design, processing, quality control, analyzing data, interpreting data and presenting findings in form of scientific publications.
We wish to increase bioinformatics competence in our group and we are offering a rather flexible position. It is a 2 year employment as a bioinformatician, with a possibility for extension and permanent employment. However, if the employee, in addition to leading the bioinformatics support in the group, wishes to peruse higher academic degree (e.g. PhD or Postdoc) this can be incorporated.
The employee is expected to interact with the members of the group and collaborators. The employee must be able to work independently, however, there is a community of bioinformaticians that the employee will be working with to collectively address biologically and medically relevant questions.

Entry requirements
We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:
Absolute Requirements
• A degree in bioinformatics, computer sciences or similar (alternatively a degree in life sciences with documented experience and good knowledge in bioinformatics or similar).
• Documented experience of data analysis.
• Good programming skills in standard bioinformatics languages (preferably including R).
• Good knowledge of statistics.
• Experience with public bioinformatics databases and associated pipelines.
• Ability to work independently and take own initiatives.
• Interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work as a part of a team.
• The ability to work on multiple projects in parallel.
• Good knowledge of English, oral and written.
Preferred Requirements
• Knowledge of or experience in genome-wide epigenetic data analysis and interpretation.
• Knowledge of or experience in molecular biology or similar (especially gene regulation).
• Experience in NGS data analysis.
• Experience in high-performance computing.
• Experience in UNIX/Linux environment.
